Op amp is first with +/-30V input over voltage protection

Analog Devices has introduced what it claims to be the industry's first precision operational amplifier with more than ±30V of integrated input over voltage protection.
The ADA4096-2 is a dual, precision micropower op amp, designed to save product development time, component cost and board space. According to ADI, it improves overall system accuracy and eases error budgeting and analysis by eliminating the uncontrolled and poorly specified error sources associated with external input OVP components.
The device is optimised to draw 60uA of power per amplifier and has a low voltage noise of 27nV/vHs. ADI claims it features twice the bandwidth and half the voltage noise of its competitors. It is targeted at applications needing precision signal handling, high accuracy and low power consumption. These include industrial sensors, process controls, high density or loop powered industrial instrumentation and battery powered medical devices.
The ADA4096-2's input OVP has been designed to remain active even when power is not applied. This feature is said to protect the inputs even during power on/power off sequencing and in low power sleep and standby modes of operation. It is also optimised to ensure continuous operation of the entire electronic system.
The amp is capable of achieving 800kHs of unity gain bandwidth, has a typical 35uV of offset voltage and 1uV/°C typical of temperature drift. It is designed to provide engineers with higher dc precision over temperature and reduce the need to calibrate to achieve high accuracy measurements.
