As part of the deal, Oxis will supply its latest ultra light cells to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which will evaluate the cells under different conditions in order to assess energy density, low temperature performance, cycle life, self-discharge and calendar life.
Huw Hampson Jones, Oxis’ CEO, said: “Oxis is delighted to be working so closely with such a world class partner. The benefit of NASA evaluating Oxis’ LiS cell technology is extremely important in providing empirical data as to where else in aviation and defence it may be applied.”
In assessing the performance of LiS cells, Oxis and NASA will draw on their expertise in applications where weight is crucial, including drones, balloons, high altitude aircraft.
