Programmable gain amplifier offers ‘highest’precision
A fully differential, 36V programmable gain amplifier has been unveiled by Texas Instruments, which it says offers the lowest offset voltage (5uV) in its class and the highest possible precision.
Available in a 5 x 6.4mm, 16pin TSSOP package, the PGA281 is designed to improve accuracy and long term stability in industrial signal acquisition applications, including test and measurement, strain gauges, bridge amplifiers and medical instrumentation.
The device offers an offset voltage of 25uV and an offset voltage drift of 174nV/C with a maximum gain of 128. TI claims it offers a best in class common-mode rejection ratio of more than 140dB over a wide frequency range.
Digitally programmable internal gain options and output scaling capabilities provide more than 20 different gain selections. Programmable gain and attenuation allow for a wide input range of a few millivolts to greater than 20V.
