NEC Electronics has introduced two new 8bit All Flash general purpose mcus that can be used in control applications such as led, lighting, home electric cookers and chargers.
The new devices combine NEC Electronics' All Flash 78K0/KB2 microcontrollers with constant high current drivers, while the part numbers differ according to their Flash memory capacity. µPD78F8024 offers 8kilobytes and µPD78F8025 offers 32kilobytes of Flash memory.
The new devices integrate an All Flash microcontroller and constant current driver in a single chip, NEC's All Flash mcu with integration of A/D converter, plus I2C and UART interfaces. They also feature built in current drivers and protection circuits.
The new chips are the first in a series of new power control devices that can provide development of compact and energy efficient led lighting systems and other drive applications. A full evaluation kit, Shine it!, is also available, along with comprehensive development tools. Samples of the µPD78F8024 and µPD78F8025 devices are available now, with mass production due to begin in 2010.
