Renesas unveils new series of mini-POL converter ics
Renesas has announced the RAA20770X series of mini-POL converters for asics and other large scale logic circuits.
The six new devices, available with different current supply ratings and functionality, are said to achieve the industry's highest level of miniaturisation and power density.
According to Renesas, they achieve a size reduction of about 75% compared to earlier products, perform high efficiency power conversion during normal load (typically 90% of the time), and execute the frequent transitions to low power mode quickly.
As well as two power mosfets, various protection functions, including overcurrent, overvoltage and thermal protection have been integrated on the same chip. A 5V low dropout regulator circuit is also included, eliminating the need for an external power supply.
