RF developer gets Scottish grant
Wireless silicon developer Elonics has won a £500,000 R&D technology grant from Scottish Executive SPURPLUS to support the further development of its DigitalTune technology.
DigitalTune is said to create a universal rf solution for wireless applications within mobile phones and other portable/handheld devices, bringing with it cost and size advantages.
Several rf components can be fabricated on one chip using standard cmos silicon processing. Using this approach, one chip can replace rf functions previously provided by several chips in multi radio products. According to Elonics, this technology allows a new generation of wireless system solutions to be realised.
“We shall demonstrate major aspects and conduct trials of Elonics’ DigitalTune technology in the near future to potential baseband and processor partners and to major OEMs,” said Elonics’ ceo David Srodzinski.
