Single chip system solution enables ‘revolutionary’ audio experience
Intersil has launched the 'world's first' range of audio system solutions on a single chip in a bid to provide dramatically improved audio quality in consumer products. According to the company, the new DAE-6 range enables a revolutionary, high end audio experience.
The complete SoC solution includes an integrated audio processor, multi channel Class-D amplifier controller and integrates a dsp with configurable audio processing algorithms. Possible applications include portable music players, pc multimedia speakers, automotive sound systems and home theatre systems.
"The new D2Audio solutions bring high end sound quality to the mass market, with no additional manufacturing costs," said audio specialist Mark Levinson, who partnered with Intersil to jointly develop the range. He claims the devices rival the sonic quality of some of the most expensive discrete analogue power amplifiers on the market and will offer an 'audio revolution' in consumer electronics.
