SiTime announces first kHz frequency silicon mems oscillator
1 min read
SiTime has announced what it claims to be the industry's first KHz frequency silicon mems oscillator for audio, microcontroller and industrial applications.
The SiT8503 features programmable support for any frequency between 200 and 1000KHz with accuracy up to 5decimal places, which supports a range of applications and enables users to optimise the frequency for different applications.
It has configurable operating voltages of 1.8, 2.5, 2.8 or 3.3V, while exhibiting shock resistance of up to 50,000G and vibration resistance of up to 70G.
Configurable frequency stability is +/-20, +/-25, +/-30 or +/-50PPM and current consumption is under 10µA in standby mode.
"The SiT8503 leverages its silicon mems technology and programmable architecture to offer many unique features that are not available from quartz, such as frequency and voltage configurability, small size, low power and extreme ruggedness," said Piyush Sevalia, vice president of marketing at SiTime. "SiTime's growing customer base is rapidly replacing their quartz oscillators with Silicon mems solutions."
Samples of the SiT8503 are available now and volume production will be available on Sept. 30, 2010.
