ST develops digital amplifier SoC for automotive market
STMicroelectronics has launched what it claims to be the industry's first full digital audio amplifier SoC series suitable for use in dash mounted sound system control panels in cars.
The 4x135W FDA4100LV and 4x50W FDA450LV feature an integrated digital input and require no signal conversion or filtering circuitry, saving pc board space and component count.
The modules are optimised to enhance the audio performance of high power boosters and integrate circuitry to allow continuous, undistorted playback in vehicles using stop start engine technology.
In addition to technology targeting EMI reduction, ST's patented feedback loop has been implemented to eliminate the need for a large output filter. According to the company this also allows use in oem and aftermarket products by reducing dependence on speaker type.
Additional features have been included to reduce electromagnetic interference with the tuner and simplify end product certification to automotive EMC standards CEI EN 55025 and ISO 11452-2.
