TI dsp targets LTE
With industry attention focusing more closely on the LTE wireless standard, TI has launched a three core dsp, along with a software library, that it believes will provide the performance necessary to support the standard’s complex algorithms.
The TMS320TCI6487, features three dsp cores, each running at 1.2GHz. Each core also features an RSA unit. Josef Alt, TI’s European wireless infrastructure business development manager, said the algorithm which provides channel quality information to higher levels in a system can be mapped to the RSA unit. “If you have a 20MHz LTE system, offloading this function frees one core on the device, which can then be used for something else.”
