‘World’s first’ single chip touchscreen solution for tablet pcs
Cypress Semiconductor has announced the availability of a new single chip TrueTouch solution for large multitouch touchscreens up to 11.6in. According to the company, the CY8CTMA884 range will 'change the game' for large touchscreens by offering 60 sensing I/O channels with support for up to 884 nodes on the screen, more than any other single chip solution.
"The market for tablets continues to expand rapidly and touchscreen performance is a critical differentiator for these products," said Derek Richardson, senior director at Cypress. "We are the first to offer a single chip device to support this market, continuing our leadership in both small and large form factor touchscreen solutions."
The CY8CTMA884 offers 10 finger touch support, low power consumption, grip and palm rejection, high accuracy and fast scan times. All major tablet operating systems are supported. The TrueTouch technology allows designers to implement differentiated features and make last minute design iterations without board changes. The devices also offer Cypress's noise immunity with patented capacitive sensing technology, which enables flawless operation in noisy rf and lcd environments.
