'World's first large scale spherical oled screen unveiled
Mitsubishi Electric has developed and installed a 6m organic light emitting display (oled) globe at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Tokyo, Japan.
The 'Geo-Cosmos' display will be unveiled at the museum on June 11 as the world's first large scale spherical oled screen. Hanging 18m from the floor, the aluminium sphere is covered with more than 10,362 oled panels, each measuring 96 x 96mm.
The globe will display scenes of clouds and other visions of the earth taken from a meteorological satellite. According to Mitsubishi, it delivers a resolution of more than 10million pixels, 10 times greater than that of the led display that it replaced.
