Bluetooth 4.0 module for lighting control apps

A Class 2 embedded Bluetooth 4.0 module from Casambi has been designed for use in LED lighting control, light fixtures and LED bulbs. Called the CBM-002A/B, the device integrates a 32bit ARM Cortex-M4 processor, along with a 2.4GHz Bluetooth Low Energy transceiver and two antenna options. The module is available in two variants: the CBM-002A has a chip antenna; while the CBM-002B comes with a pin antenna.

Pre-programmed with Casambi’s proprietary firmware, the modules can be updated over-the-air. Both parts can be controlled wirelessly over distances of up to 50m via a smartphone app.

The CBM-002A/B module measures 12.7 x 20 x 2.85mm and can be mounted horizontally or vertically. It requires a power supply in the range from 2.5 to 3.6V, draws 7mA and operates in temperatures ranging from -25 to 85°C.

According to the developer, the modules meet RED, FCC and ISED requirements.
