Integrated power modules for POL supplies
Intersil's ISL8204M and ISL8206M are switch mode power supplies in a single compact surface mount package. Integrated are a PWM controller, power mosfets, power inductor and associated discrete components.
The products are footprint compatible with the ISL8201M, giving designers the flexibility to fix their point of load (POL) power requirements later in the design cycle and to optimise system power needs without having to rework the pcb.
The ISL8204M, ISL8206M and ISL8201M are rated at 4A, 6A and 10A respectively. According to Intersil, all that is required to create a high performance POL regulator using the ISL8204/06/01M are input and output capacitors and a resistor to program the output voltage.
Measuring 15 x 15 x 3.5mm, the thermally enhanced QFN package allows heat to be dissipated through the bottom of the package, which can eliminate the need for a heat sink or cooling fan.
