Power supplies for Industry 4.0 applications

Four power supplies from Powerbox are intended for use with Industry 4.0 applications. Additions to the company’s Industrial Line, the four products feature LLC resonant technology, synchronous rectification, active power factor correction (PFC), low leakage current and energy optimisation.

With power output ranging from 80W to 400W, the OBM33, OBM35, OBP37 and OBP38 deliver single outputs ranging from 12V to 48V. All models accept an input voltage in the range from 90 to 264V AC at a line frequency of 47 to 63Hz.

The OBM33, OBM35, OBP37 and OBP38 use an LLC half bridge topology and this is complemented by synchronous rectification and low standby power consumption. Efficiency is said to be up to 93%, with very low power consumption at no load.

The OBM33 (80 to 150W) is available in a 2 x 4in footprint, with a profile of 1.3in. The OBM35 (200W) fits a 3 x 5in footprint, with a 1.5in profile and comes in U-bracket or fully enclosed options. The OBP37 (300W) measures 3 x 6 x 1.5in and is available in open-frame, L-bracket and fully enclosed with fan formats. Completing the range, the OBP38 (400W) measures 4 x 7 x 1.58in and is available in U-bracket or fully enclosed with fan formats.

Products can be operated from -10 to 70°C, says Powerbox. Without extra cooling, up to 75% of the maximum power is available. Additional forced air cooling will allow 100% power up to 50°C, then a slight power derating will allow operation up to 70°C.

The new series include short circuit protection, over-voltage and over-temperature protection.
