8bit mcus with integrated configurable logic
1 min read
Microchip's new 8bit PIC microcontrollers are available in 6 to 20pin packages and feature configurable logic cells, complementary waveform generators and numerically controlled oscillators.
The PIC10F(LF)32x and PIC1xF(LF)150x mcus are optimised to enable designers to enhance the functionality, reduce design size and decrease the cost and power consumption for products such as kitchen appliances, interior automotive lighting and consumer power tools.
According to Microchip, the configurable logic cell peripherals on the mcus enable software control of combinational and sequential logic, which increases the on-chip interconnection of peripherals and I/Os - reducing external components, saving code space and adding functionality.
The complementary waveform generator is designed to work with multiple peripherals to generate complementary waveforms with dead band control and auto shutdown, which provides improved switching efficiencies. Additionally, the numerically controlled oscillator peripheral is said to enable linear frequency control and high resolution.
The mcus also feature currents of less than 30µA/MHz in active mode and less than 20nA in sleep; as well as an on-chip 16MHz internal oscillator, a/d converter and up to 4 pwm peripherals. An integrated temperature indicator module is optimised to enable low cost temperature measurements.
