Embedded World 2014: Microchip has 8pin PIC for LED lighting
Microchip has announced a new series of 8pin, 8bit MCUs at Embedded World in Nuremberg.
The devices come with three 16bit PWMs for LED lighting, stepper motors and battery charging.
Four compare modes are also included, which can serve as an additional 16bit timer.
The company also announced at Embedded World that it has expanded its 8 bit PIC microcontroller portfolio to include the PIC16(L)F161X family.
The new MCUs offload timing critical and core intensive tasks from the CPU, allowing it to focus on other application tasks.
In addition to a Hardware Limit Timer (HLT), they also feature a 24bit Signal Measurement Timer (SMT) which performs high resolution measurements of any digital signal, in hardware, resulting in more precise and accurate measurements.
