Fairchild unveils bidirectional optocoupler
Looking to provide more reliable isolation and immunity to emi in industrial communication designs, Fairchild has launched the FOD8012, a full duplex bidirectional logic gate optocoupler.

It supports isolated digital signal communication between systems without conducting ground loops or hazardous voltages. A minimum optical isolation gap of 0.4mm is included, along with a switching speed of up to 15Mbit/s and a minimum common mode rejection of 20kV/µs.
Two optically coupled channels are arranged in a bidirectional configuration and each channel features a high speed AIGaAs led driven by a cmos buffer coupled to a cmos detector.
