Femtocell SoC agreement
3G femtocell developer Ubiquisys is to work with femtocell SoC vendor Percello to integrate SoC technology into Ubiquisys’ ZoneGate femtocell. As part of the agreement, Percello will become a strategic supplier to Ubiquisys.
“Percello’s PRC6000 offers high levels of integration and performance, it supports our femtocell’s features and it does all this with low power consumption and at the right price,” said Ubiquisys’ ceo Chris Gilbert. “We are delighted to be working with a company of Percello’s calibre as femtocells enter the mass deployment phase.”
Percello has been working with Ubiquisys since January 2008 to ensure its baseband processor supported the ZoneGate femtocell. Advanced functions, such as cognitive radio technology, are said to be prerequisite for commercial mass deployment.
“Ubiquisys, acknowledged as the leading femtocell vendor, is an excellent partner for Percello to drive aggressively into the femtocell market,” said Percello’s ceo Shlomo Gadot. “Ubiquisys has the most mature femtocell software stack, which has helped us accelerate the development of the PRC6000.”
