According to IBM, the alliance will allow Freescale to strengthen its manufacturing strategy by having access to capacity available at IBM’s Common Platform partners.
Lisa Su, vice president of semiconductor research and development for IBM, said: “Freescale will be a valuable addition to our team, with its deep expertise in semiconductor process development and fast growing embedded applications, like automotive, networking and wireless.”
Meanwhile, Sumit Sandana, Freescale’s senior vp for strategy and business development, pictured, noted: “This partnership creates an exciting opportunity to combine the complementary strengths of Freescale and the IBM Alliance.”
