Intel resuming shipments of 6 Series chipset
Intel has announced it is to resume shipments of its 6 Series chipset for use only in pc system configurations that are not impacted by the design issue in the Sandy Bridge mainboard chipset.
Only computer makers who have committed to shipping the Intel 6 Series chipset in pc system configurations that are not impacted by the design issue will be receiving these shipments. Intel has also started manufacturing a new version of the support chip which it expects to begin shipping in mid February.
Intel disclosed the design issue with the support chip on 31st January, which has the potential to impact certain pc system configurations.
