New transistors provide industry’s ‘best power density’
A new range of 30V power transistors delivers the industry's best power density according to STMicroelectronics.
The power semiconductor specialist says its series of 30V surface mount power transistors achieves on resistance as low as 2milliohms.
By using its STripFET VI DeepGate process, which has high equivalent cell density, ST claims to have achieved the industry's best RDS(ON) in relation to active chip size. This is around 20% better than the previous generation and allows the use of small surface mount power packages in switching regulators and DC-DC convertors.
The first devices introduced using this new process include ST's STL150N3LLH6 in a 5 x 6mm PowerFLAT package and the STD150N3LLH6 in the DPAK package, with an RDS(ON) of 2.4 milliohms.
