SRS announce collaboration on StudioSound HD

Audio specialist SRS announced today that Tensilica will be the first IP core supplier to commercially support its StudioSound HD, an all in one audio solution for flat panel televisions and home theatre sound bar manufacturers. Implementation aims to enable delivery of the most advanced audio enhancement solutions to DTV SoC makers worldwide.
"SRS StudioSound HD allows companies like Tensilica to offer a full complement of audio technologies for a much better sound experience to hdtv customers worldwide," stated Larry Przywara, pictured, Tensilica's director of mobile multimedia.
"We are excited to extend our relationship with Tensilica to bring our home entertainment audio solutions to their HiFi audio IP core," added Joanna Skrdlant, senior director at SRS Labs. "The HiFi cores are optimally designed to handle advanced audio enhancement processing solutions such as SRS TruVolume, SRS TruSurround HD and now, SRS StudioSound HD."
The new sound solution is intended to solve common consumer tv/audio complaints including inconsistent volume levels, unintelligible vocals, and poor, dimensionless sound. According to the company, the technology automatically detects and levels abrupt volume fluctuations that normally occur when programming switches to commercial break or while changing channels. It is also said to separate vocals from all other content and adjust the dialogue level to ensure that it can be clearly understood.
