Design tool models multiple load power supplies for Atmel, Freescale ARM processors
National Semiconductor has introduced its new WEBENCH Processor Power Architect which it claims is the industry's first online design tool to model and optimise power supplies for Atmel and Freescale Semiconductor ARM processors in minutes.
Supporting the company's latest high efficiency POL regulators and Simple Switcher modules, the design tool incorporates the detailed supply requirements of more than 50 of the newest ARM processors from Atmel and Freescale. According to National, the power supply designs delivered by WEBENCH incorporate comprehensive power requirements published by the ARM processor manufacturers and the Processor Power Architect is optimised.
To accommodate the low currents associated with ARM processor loads, National says designers can select from more than 50 LDO regulators in addition to high efficiency switching regulators.
