Embedded World 2013: Altera launches HSR/PRP reference design
Altera has introduced a new fpga based reference design for smart grid substation automation equipment.
Jointly developed with networking equipment specialist Flexibilis Oy, the IEC 62439-3-compliant seamless redundancy (HSR) and parallel redundancy protocol (PRP) reference design includes Flexibilis redundant switch IP implemented on an Altera low power, low cost Cyclone class fpga or Cyclone V SoC.
It is designed to simplify development and implementation of highly reliable mission critical communications systems in smart grid substations.
Jason Chiang, senior strategic marketing manager for Altera's industrial business unit, said: "Our fpga based HSR/PRP reference design enables equipment manufactures to build flexibility, performance, reliability and product longevity into their systems while lowering system costs and future proofing designs."
Altera and Flexibilis are showcasing the reference design at Altera's stand at Embedded World 2013, located in Hall 4, Booth 436.
