Power modules suit motor drive applications
1 min read
International Rectifier has introduced the µIPM-DIP family of integrated power modules (IPM), aimed at low power motor drive application such as fans, pumps, air purifiers and refrigerator compressor drives.
Available in a 12 x 29mm SOP/DIP package, the µIPM-DIP series leverages industry standard footprints and processes compatible with PCB substrates.
There are 32 devices in the new range, including high voltage FredFET MOSFETs optimised for variable frequency drives, with voltage ratings of 250 to 500V. These devices are paired with what's claimed to be IR's most advanced high voltage IC, tuned to ensure optimal balance between EMI and switching losses.
The µIPM-DIP offers DC current ratings up to 4.6A to drive motors up to 150W without a heatsink and is available in through hole and surface mount package options.
Alberto Guerra, vice president of strategic market development for IR's energy saving products business unit, stated: "The new portfolio of µIPM-DIP modules offers designers and system integrators a cost effective, pin to pin compatible solution for advanced control for low power applications requiring improved thermal performance and system size reduction while using PCB assembly technology."
